One Health as an InterdisciplinaryResearch Framework: Graduate Student Lightning Talks
One Health is a research framework that addresses the interconnectedness of ecosystem health, integrating human, animal, environmental, and policy perspectives. Through a collaborative NSF-funded National Research Traineeship (NRT) program at UMaine, graduate students are co-advised by faculty from both biophysical and social sciences to explore complex issues across diverse systems related to One Health. In this seminar, seven One Health NRT trainees will present lightning talks that span topics in marine policy, wildlife ecology, entomology, and economics. Each talk will highlight interdisciplinary approaches used by the graduate students including a range of quantitative and qualitative methods. The goal of this seminar is to showcase the breadth of interdisciplinary research conducted by UMaine’s One Health graduate student trainees.
