Minor in Biology (22 credits)

The minor in Biology is designed for students in other fields who would like to develop a basic understanding of modern biology. The minor is not open to students majoring or minoring in Botany or Zoology. Students must obtain a minimum grade of C in BIO 100 and BIO 200 and a minimum GPA for the minor of 2.0.

BIO 100 Basic Biology (4cr)
BIO 200 Biology of Organisms (4 cr)
BMB 280 Introduction to Molecular and Cellular Biology (3 cr)
or
BIO 480 Cell Biology (3 cr)
BIO 319 General Ecology (3 cr)
or
SMS 300 Marine Ecology (3 cr)
or
WLE 200 Wildlife Ecology (3 cr)

Electives (8 credits)
Any courses from Biological Sciences Areas I-V in the Biology BS program

1Students majoring in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular and Cellular Biology must choose from Areas III, IV, and V only, and the courses must not be BMB courses.

2Students majoring in Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Marine Science, or Wildlife Ecology must choose courses from Areas I-V that are not on the list of courses that count towards their major.
