The School of Biology and Ecology (SBE) had an exciting year as we continue to balance our mission to provide an excellent educational experience to each of our students, conduct a broad array of significant research, and serve the needs of Maine’s natural-resource-based economy. We welcomed one of our largest first year classes with 157 new students arriving in the fall. Many of these took advantage of our Schoodic Experience program in Acadia National Park, where they met faculty and their fellow students, developing a sense of community, and learning about study and research opportunities at UMaine. SBE continues to serve nearly 500 undergraduate majors and 40 graduate students in our programs.
